Whatever Pentax does, won’t change anything. Because even D600/6D did not change anything.

Oh, but it did for quite a few Pentax users who got either of those two cameras, tired of waiting for Pentax to commit.

Anyway, the statement referred to by the OP means nothing. We've been hearing similar things for years now, so it's pretty hard to give any kind of credence to those messages. Maybe Pentax have got their numbers right and are making the right decision not to go into FF, but I seriously doubt there's anybody left holding their breath.

For how many years? Are you sure you weren't imagining things, because IIRC it started about 1 year and few months ago?

By the way, I see you have gone the other way around, i.e. smaller than APS-C.

Alex

I don't know, maybe I' getting the time framemixed up, but it certainly feels like we've been speculating and trying to interpret Pentax's statements about a possible FF for ages now.

With all speculations and fake rumors floating around, it's easy to be confused. Sorry, I was pulling your leg a bit

I think the trick is to not believe speculations and rumors. By eliminating this noise, I noticed a change of tone from "645D is a priority, FF maybe later" to a deafening silence, and then - after Ricoh took over - this "we're working on FF".

As for me, I'm a three system guy now. Crazy, I know, but 6D and XE-1 are my main cameras, and I still shoot my K-5 quite often because I have a soft spot for it and the bunch of Limited and manual primes I keep

So you did go FF after all. If you could afford (i.e. no big financial hit) the 3 systems - it's not crazy at all IMO.

See I haven't noticed any change in any of the rumours or tone of the interviews from Pentax. The 645D was shown at numerous shows as well for about 2 years.  But ever since I've been a member of this forum  since the *ist series days, there have been rumours of a FF coming next year or soon. I've read or seen nothing recently to indicate this, just more misinterpretations.

Even the roadmap is being misinterpreted!  It look like a DA* 70-200 f2.8 to me, might be for a FF, but i can't see why they wouldn't make one for APS-c, the DA*50-135 is too short for some people and the DA*60-250 is too slow for some.

And I'm not an anti FF person. I'd buy one, but I just haven't seen or read anything to suggest this year let alone next year.  We had the 645DII rumours for over a year and we have one now.  Even the mirrorless rumours were around and we got the Q and the K01.

I'm sure Pentax have some FF prototypes, I mean they had one before the *istD, but clearly the financial returns are not worth it right now, which says something when they can get enough of a return to continue to make the 645D and Q.
