Question on Medium format lenses
Feb 21, 2014

Hello. Ready to take a dive into the world of medium format photography and I have a question about focal lengths in order to buy the right lens.

On my cropped sensor D300s I know that my 35mm is in fact a 52,5mm in 35mm due to the 1.5 crop factor. Ok, and on a normal full frame D700 a 50mm is a 50mm.

But what happens in medium format world? I cannot help having the impression that photos shot with somewhat "long" focal lengths of around 100mm seem somewhat wide in perspective. Of course it could be my imagination that is why I am asking, are the focal lengths in medium format considered the same (wide or telephoto) as in 35mm format?

Thanks in advance.
