Comparing lens sizes of systems

I think the lens size arguments are probably incorrect. M43 doesnt really have smaller glass than FF, for the following reasons:

  1. fast lenses on small sensors are still often big, like the new panasonic portrait lens
  2. on FF you dont need such fast glass as you just up the ISO

The new Sony is a good example of this, the Zeiss 35mm is tiny and at 2.8, the same, when you consider the whole exposure triangle, as m43 1.4. You just shoot two stops higher ISO on the Sony. Another example may be the 24-70 f4 Zeiss, vs the 16-55 2.8 Fuji.

So, as much as I love my Fujis, I am starting to think it makes more sense to have a bigger sensor but have slower glass for the same effect. In other words, get get the FF image quality in the same size package AND additional DOF control and lower light shooting if you need to wheel out the super fast primes on special occasions.
