Right now, the cost of a low volume high quality 24mp DSLR is very close to the same as a high quality, probably low volume, 16mp mirrorless.
I really don't think cost of manufacture is going to be all that big a deal, unless what you are also saying is that mirrorless makers are gouging.

Edit: Mirrorless viewfinders have to get better, they have to be better than optical finders in the very real and important metric of eye friendliness. Right now they are not eye friendly, though they are getting better.
