Why no lens uniformity?

The front element of the 25 certainly looks larger on the 25 than the 45.

I agree that it would have been nice if all the plastic primes, 17/2.8, 25/1.8 and 45/1.8 shared the same filter size, but clearly in the design of the 25 they used a larger front element than they theoretically needed to... maybe that's why all the first reviews give the lens such high marks! Better quality than standarizing hoods and filters IMO.
