Ona bowery camera bag - leather vs waxwear
I can't comment on the wax wear bag, but I purchased the cognac leather version a few weeks ago. I was surprised to find that out of the box it scratched really easily and was already quite weathered looking.
After a few uses and many more scuffs, I ended up using a leather conditioning product on it to see if that would help prevent so many marks. It actually worked really well. It darkened the leather slightly, but it looks even better now, in my opinion. This is an excellent bag, and I'm glad I purchased it, but I can see that it will take some upkeep in the future unless you want a bag that looks like it's a decade old quite quickly.
I have had waxwear backpacks over the years, and I never had any issues with wax rubbing off, but none were Ona brand. They also required some upkeep to retain their water resistance, though.
