by surface they might be even identical, but... the 800x600 vs 1024x768 means 1.64x as much resolution advantage for the N6/N7 EVF.

As to the lag - nay, even at 10 fps I've never saw any EVF lag in my N7-classic EVF. And the problems with dynamic range on all EVFs depend to much larger degree on the input signal, than anything else: this all APS-C sensored cams will suffer more than e.g. FF ones if feeding exactly the same VFs

Then cost-cutting purely.
