Why couldn't you have used the wi-fi and and a smartphone as a remote?

Seriously? Have you ever done landscape photography? Standing in a stream or surf or salt marsh? Shooting in winter/snow with gloves? So now only do your risk your camera but also your phone? Shoot with a 60D and you'll see how convenient and robust the articulated screen is... The smartphone thing might work in some situations, but for me, the last thing I need is something else to juggle and protect while shooting.
