Lexar XQD failures

I guess this may be a moot point if the rumours about Lexar pulling out of the XQD market are true, but has anyone else had problems with fragile cards?
Didn't happen in one go... Bits started breaking off without affecting the card's ability to engage in the socket  (I think I've got all the bits out of the camera) and it still works even though the shield for the connectors is all gone, but you have to secure it in place with the door, which I think is where the marks on the body have come from.
The card's been well looked after - it's either been in the D4 or in the Sony card reader.
