These three items are what I use to get a speedlight anywhere from 100mm-2m's off the ground:

Number 3 is to get the speedlight lower than the stands minimum extension height. I Clamp it to the stands shaft and fix the umbrella bracket to it. Those stands (I have two) have to be the most used/most versatile piece's of 'Grip' I own.  ..Actually, those stands AND the clamps are my most used/most versatile.
