No, it's not more light. That's the whole point of aperture desigations - they are ratios. f1.2 allows more light than f1.8 in any given time period. That is exactly why bigger apertures are called "fast."

The primary difference at a given aperture with FF is more limited depth of field relative to a smaller sensor.

You are right i was thinking depth of field.

But it does cost more to build a lens that has to project an image circle on a 35mm sensor vs a lens that projects onto a smaller image circle...
