Hi everyone this weeks entry.

P.S Best viewed at full size.

I have contrarian comment on this one.

To my mind the central standing swimmer is in exactly perfect position -- his unlit form connects the dark upper and lower Earth elements of the cavern scene, thereby solidifying an "enclosure" awareness in viewer's mind. If he were silhouetted against the waterfall the magnificent whole would be severed, making the picture much more of a People shot and much diminished in its proper manifestation as a photograph of Place.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but there's no need whatsoever to see the standing swimmer more clearly; swimmers standing on rocks above waterfall pools are common. What is not common is the magic of a cave that contemporary Man briefly inhabits and there perhaps feels a hint of connection to ancient forebears.

No crop. All that dark mass above wonderfully evokes and specifies this picture's theme: Place.

Zin has a very good point.

I agree wholeheartedly about the "no crop" : that ceiling MAKES your title.

About the position of the swimmer I am in dubio : my aesthetic self that strives for clean, simple, non-overlapping compositions still feels like I expressed earlier; but Zin's interpretation of that man being a literal connection also rings very true to me.
