Also, as a former G1X user, I find the new MKII camera really interesting and very promising. Canon and Sony are the only manufacturers offering a serious fixed zoom advanced compact camera. The G1X MKII is a very valid alternative for those that want DSLR IQ in a compact all-in-one package.

People looking into buying an entry level DSLR with kit zoom will be interested in the camera, as a smaller alternative offering similar quality.

People who already have a DSLR will buy this as an all-in-one travel or take everywhere camera.

It may be a niche market, but it is a very serious one.
