Your thoughts on why Fujifilm hasn't yet gone to 24Mb?

The Nex 7 is over two years old now and Nikon has had 24mb APS cameras for almost the same length of time. It seems clear that 24Mb represents the next generation of sensors and that they are by this time available to Fujifilm.

So why didn't they use one in the X-T1?

I've seen comments that the 24mb sensor doesn't have colors that are as good, but the DXO score is several points higher. And certainly I don't see many complaints from the Sony and Nikon shooters using these sensors. So what gives?

Oh, and yes, yes, yes - I know the argument that anything over 16Mb is "unnecessary". Do we really think that Fujifilm thinks that?

So, thoughts on why no 24Mb for Fujifilm yet?
