New Owner of D3200: Landscape Lenses For the 24mp Sensor?
Feb 11, 2014

As noted in a prior post, I am about to be the owner of a D3200 kit, which I got for only $365 with the 18-55mm VR. I got it from someone who got it from Adorama refurbished with only 21 shutter clicks (their daughter decided she wanted something smaller). I also have ordered the 35mm 1.8 DX for photos of our kids ages 5 & 7. I've used Nikon DSLRs many times before, most recently last year with the D5100 and 18-105mm and 50mm 1.8 G (and as far back as Sept 2005 with the D50 kit).

If I stay with this and expand on it, vs using Sony NEX exclusively (as I did most of last year, hence my selling of the D5100 and lenses), what would be suitable lenses for landscape shots? Word is the 18-55mm VR is a poor match to the 24mp sensor. My inclination would be the 18-105mm VR, but I'm not sure it would be either. I can't get crazy with this and get the high-dollar stuff (although arguably that's what you have to do with a 24mp DX sensor), but I figured if the kit lenses are not up to par, maybe the Tokina 12-24mm II if I find one at a good price?
