I wouldn't phrase it that way, but.. medical diagnostic durable goods are

an increasing part of every major optical and electronic manufacturer's portfolio. THe profit margin will be higher on diagnostic durable goods, as well (endoscopes, microscopes, operating room guided systems, radiology high grade LCD screens - which are NOTHING like the relatively primitive "high end" screens used by the likes of us).

I have a relatively new Olympus microscope, it replaced a 25 year old Nikon microscope. I have seen more Pentax endoscopes than DSLRs locally (admittedly the Pentax guy hits every local GI talk). Everyone says that Eizo makes the best color-management screens. Eizo digital radiography screens are unbelievably good and leave the CM screens in the dust, as they should for 5x the price.
