Does not have to be loss

The new sensor has 19 + 5 + 5 MP; I think it would be a good guess to say that it would resolve less than a hypothetical 19 + 19 + 19 MP sensor, but how much less? Will it be equivalent, better, or worse than the current 15 + 15 + 15 sensor?

How much less will depend on the test texture. For small patches of red and green of equal brightness, there will be some loss.

You say "will" but there does not have to be, because the top layer can see variance in light the bottom two layers capture.  It could be possible to discern from the top layer a single red pixel even though it is combined with three other samples in the lower layers... all you have to see is a three top level values that are equal in one quad and on other that is different, then have any other quad with the same top levels values across the board and a slightly lowered bottom (red) layer below.  That informs you that back in the other quad, the single top level sensor with different levels was seeing red.

This compares with the 18 green Mpix in a D800 or a Sony A7r. These cameras have 9 Mpix for blue and red, as oposed to 5 in the Quattro; so they should give slightly better results for chroma-only test charts.

It is totally unlike any Bayer sensor, as it always was...  I would love to see the results from a color resolution chart.  This could be the chance for DPReview to hit a color res chart with some more modern cameras by way of comparison.
