What a disappointment. Canon should have learned that half-measures have always been a waste of their time. It looks more like an EOS-M Pro than a G1X V2. Then again, we were complaining bitterly that they included an OVF on the G1X to begin with. Dreadful decision to drop the vari-angle flip-LCD screen for the old (cheap) tilt-screen.

You should know by now... Canon giveth and Canon taketh away. Remember all the wailing when G7 was announced with fixed screen, slow lens and no raw? They will always do something to make sure G- and S-series sales don't cut too much into Rebel/lens sales.

That's right.  Canon has to take something else out if it puts something nice in.

The zoom range is nice and the LCD is a touchscreen.  We can expect also a better sensor and therefore IQ.  Now, that must be too much to give to the buyers.  So, take some features back -  less dials and smaller, and no more EVF, just a tilting and not a fully articulated LCD.  It also has a cheaper look, although I don't know if that means a cheaper build.

Have you ever heard of the concept of economics?  Supply and demand?  Economy of scale?  Or even design considerations?

Nobody liked the old OVF (O stands for optical).  An EVF is now an option.  The fully artiulated LCD was most likely not useable with a touch interface, necessitating the use of a sturdier tilting mechanism.  You guys are a bunch of whiney, self-centered, thoughtless malcontents.
