It´s not only because of changing lenses. AF speed(which we don´t know yet - I can focus 6-8 times/second with SL1 when fingers are fast), controls looks poorer, Very low resolution for these days. Actually, I bought SL1 few days ago, because I could not wait for G1X II, and while this new cam looks like quite a feat, It´s still somehow poor against SL1 for it´s price (bought it for €407 in Europe, which is nice price here). If the launch price will be €700-800 in Europe, it will be joke compared to SL1 for too many people.

You are comparing an as yet unconfirmed launch price for the G1XII with the price of an SL1 which is now discounted since it has been on the market for a while.

And I'm not sure the G1XII will be even placed in the same category for consideration as the SL1 by most people. And no doubt there will be many who want / need both types of camera.

I´m speaking just from my point of view. It´s how it is. These things -as price- are facts of today. I have been wainting for new cam for some time, and I actually present that customer who decides between G1X(II) and DSLR. Customers behavior is often not only black&white.

While SL1 (with kit zoom) wins on sensor resolution, weight, price, viewfinder and probably some other factors there is no way you are going to get a lens similar to the one of the G1X II for a DSLR that is anywhere near the size of the G1X II lens. For people who are looking for a 'walkaround' camera that could be a major factor - if you like the better WA and tele reach, better DOF control and probably better closeup capability.
