The GPS on my AW110 is very quick acting, especially compared to the Fuji F550 I used to have. And the maps are amazing!!!
Did they help you on your trip to Georgian Bay?

I had my Garmin Dakota 20 with Topo Canada and Blue Charts loaded. BUT it was great after the trip as I could figure out on each picture were I took it so I could put lables on the pictures and say things like "green Island". Or passing between this and this island. The GPS locks faster than my Garmin does by far BUT I keep the Garmin running the whole trip were I dont use the log thing on the AW110 just let it get a lock when I turn it on for a picture. Its amazing how fast it locks a location. My trip pictures from Snug Harbor to the Minks and BigMcCoy are here, http://www.pbase.com/dc9mm/georgian_bay_2

One of the other guys uses a Olympus TG2 which on are first trip he gave me all his pictures and I posted them here, I had a few but from my old none water proof camera that has no GPS. I did notice between the TG2 and my AW110 mine locks gps faster. These are mostly from fellow paddlers TG-2 camera http://www.pbase.com/dc9mm/georgian_bay  This was down French River to Hawk Island then to Killarney.
