RX10 is a formidable camera

But camera sensor/bodies get outdated quickly. When you buy a lens, it stays relevant as long as the system is around. Todays sensors will not be a match for sensors 2 years from now.  A new m43 body like the em10 can be had for $699 now.  You can also buy older bodies anywhere from $200 to $500.  Sure, if you are serious hobbyist you will be paying more for lenses but they'll stay around for a long time.  While the Sony 1 inch sensor is phenomenal, you still won't get the shallower DOF of a m43 with a nice f1.8 lens.  The sensor size of m43 is really the borderline size for getting  nice shallow DOF shots at flexible distances, if you are into that kind of thing.
