How does DRREVIEW shoot their ISO comparison images? - how do they equalize lenses?

I love the comparisons at different ISOs and RAW vs jpeg. But it always bothers me - how do they neutralize lens differences - or don't they?

Use the kit lenses? Use the same lens on all bodies with adapters?

Also - when they show raw image comparisons - how do they capture such awful raw images? Even when I open raw Sony and Nikon images in Lightroom, without a touch of enhancement or noise reduction, they look better than than the raw images in these comparisons.
