A Hike to Lake Blanche. Part 1, on the way up (SX50)
Took in a hike up to lake Blanche yesterday. Lake Blanche is located in the Twin Peaks Wilderness, and sits at around 9000 + feet above sea level.
It was so beautiful that I couldn't help but to take a ton of photos, so I decided to break it up into 3 posts. I hope you guys don't mind looking through all of these photos.
A shot of the canyon bottom near the trail head.
Big Cottonwood creek.
About halfway there. Looking down. The hike started at the base of the cloud shrouded mountain. Luckily the trail was packed so I didn't need my snowshoes.
My destination in site. Lake Blanche is at the base of Sundial peak, just visible in the center of the photo.
Blowing snow from the ridge line above.
Aspens in the snow. I checked the ski report for the resorts in this canyon, it says we have a 223" base, that's about 18.5 feet.
Looking up at one of the twin dromedary peaks.
A downy woodpecker I saw along the way.
Blowing snow framed by spruce branches.
Snow blowing off of the twin Dromedary peaks.
Looking back down the canyon where I came from.
Sundial peak, Almost there!!!
The end of part 1. Stay tuned for part 2.
Thanks for looking PP suggestions are always welcome.
