TTL is great if the subject to flash distance is constantly changing but you do need to become really proficient with Flash Exposure Compensation since TTL, like any other AF method, will change the exposure if you simply zoom your lens to change the composition or if you change the subject's clothing or the background.

Most of the time the flash to subject is fixed when you are using your flash off-camera. In that case you are better off using manual flash power control.

If you want manual only power control for your off-camera flash then the $35/pair Yongnuo RF-603 II triggers are what I recommend. If you want to preserve off-camera TTL and also have off-camera manual power control then the new YN-622N-TX paired with a YN-622N receiver is what I recommend. You can find these RF triggers on or
