Is there a practical significance in wide gamut colorspaces?

Thanks for chiming in, Iliah. So cameras have no gamuts, but have registration errors. In the thread above the paper was mentioned (http://www.color.org/documents/CaptureColorAnalysisGamuts.pdf). There they talk about "the gamut of possible scene colors that can be estimated by the device". Given some error threshold one can describe such gamut?
