Well, part of this is for style, but there's actually a very good ergonomic reason for the humped viewfinder from a control placement point of view...you can fit more controls in at the right places, and all these humped designs have lots of manual dials. Plus, on the newest ones the viewfinders are immense, with eye relief designed to accommodate glasses...big hump. Check out
