At this point you definitely do not need to calibrate your printer; calibrating the monitor will suffice and yes, you can either borrow or rent a monitor calibrator, called a colorimeter.

You are going to love the printer.

Once you get rolling and understand color management and the printer more, then down the line look into calibrating your printer. Since you will be mainly reproducing your own artwork, you will have a better handle on the entire process from capture through printing and know where it is more important to invest your money. You may find the capture portion more important, who knows at this point.
