I have been rather impressed with the IQ of the new 18-140mm
It seems to be very usable from 18mm through to 140mm at just F5.6
I wondered how it would compare to a good prime. So I shot using the 60mm and the 18-140mm set at 60mm to give an idea. To keep things fair.. both shot in JPG, same camera and both +30 added in unsharp mask. You can of course muster even more detail if shot in RAW but then this is true of both lenses of course.
These of course are at 100 % My thoughts are that the 18-140 holds its own very well since this is surely acceptable. Shooting in RAW would make it even more so. The difference becomes less obvious of course at less magnification. I find it also impressive that I see very much the same quality throughout the range. All considering the 18-140 gets a big thumbs up from me
