I remember when Scott Kelby said in a blog that the D700's shutter was mushy. It is with the EN-EL3e. What he didn't know was when you put in a EN-EL4a battery into the battery grip, you get the shutter sound that is more crisp. ALOT more crisp. Like a D3. You can hear the shutter here, D700 time-lapsing (shutter sounds)  I could do a comparison with the different batteries if anyone is interested. Sometimes its just better to get better things and that satisfies you. Like I went for the EN-EL4a instead of using the EN-EL3e batteries for my D700. Plus it shoots 8 frames per second compared to the EN-EL3e batteries. So no complaining there.
