Ken: Try scanning the 4x5 on a good Epson or Canon flatbed, and printing to a high-quality inkjet. It really is pretty amazing, and (with Epson printers at least) there is a HUGE range of papers available. Reminds me of the Darkroom Era.

I have pretty much tried it all, I have the Epson 700 pro or whatever it is scanner, tried some 13 inch epson printers, dedicated to black and white even and they do very good, but when I look at what I can get with an optical enlarger and a Rodenstock lens, its unbelievable, and if you ever go see an Ansel Adams exhibit, OH MY!!!!!  It looks like nothing I have ever seen before and very humbling.
