Actually much of noise can be attributed to pixel size and the fact that you don't have to pack as many pixels into a full sized sensor to get more resolution as you do a smaller sensor. The pixels are bigger and have less issues.

Take the 5 mp sensor off of the E 1 and apply todays tech and processing advances and you have a 5 mp sensor good for much higher ISOs.

Take a full frame sensor and pack it as dense as the current 4/3s sensor resulting in what 64 mp and you will find it isn't the ISO giant you thought it would be.
