Yes, I know. And how wrong that is.

The camera should, of course, close the lens to e.g. F2.8 when focussing, when you are not taking the image at F1.4. Everything else is just plain stupid.

My FA 50/1.5 doesn't have this problem. You may simply have a bad copy.

AF with wide open lens does have some advantages both in terms of low light shooting and accuracy.
