You can't even use them for studio strobes without the black screen problem.

Are you saying the A7/7r cameras do not have the option to turn live view effect off like the SLTs do? That would be a real bummer since it seems they would be great studio cameras.

If you are referring to "Settings Effect" then yes it can be turned ON and OFF for studio work/external lighting. I use it all the time when using an external flash.

Then K E Hoffman is incorrect. I believe that the A7 and especially the A7r will be great studio/landscape cameras.

Look at the picture, not the pixels
Miss use of the ability to do 100% pixel peeping is the bane of digital photography because it causes people to fret over inconsequential issues.

I'm personally happy with my good old A77, but I believe that the A7 and especially the A7r are great cameras, no matter what you shoot, but specially for studio/landscape.

But A7 and especially A7r are new state of the art cameras, and their superiority was expected. Their biggest weakness is the lack of IBIS, otherwise I would jump ship right away.

That said, I'm still crossing figure that the new A-mount camera, coming soon hopefully, will beat them in several fronts. That name of this game is "evolution" and new cameras are getting better and better.
