APS-C Canon + EF-S 55-250 versus 10x50 binoculars?
Jan 24, 2014

I was wondering if anyone knows how an APS-C sensor with a 1.6x crop factor combined with an EF-S 55-250mm lens compares magnification-wise with a typical 10x50 binocular, or a typical 12x50, 16x50, and even 20x60 binoculars?

Which tool has the higher maximum magnification?

Which has a wider field of view if the dSLR is a 70D?

I'm just wondering if purchasing an EF-S 55-250 for a EOS 70D can replace my old Pentax 10x50 binoculars, or the new top 20x60 binoculars?
