I also recently purchased the 24/2.8 IS, to replace the original and as an IS option to my 24-70/2.8L.

The new lens is much better than the original for sharpness, curvature of field and fine detail. I'm about to direct compare to the TSE 24 II, but I expect it will be close at f/5.6. I'm looking forward to getting the 35 IS to replace that original EF lens too. I'm keeping the original 28/2.8 as-is -- I tried a copy of the new IS version but it misbehaved on both the 1Ds3 and 5D2.
