D7100: Two bodies, two lemons
Jan 17, 2014

Hi everyone, new to this forum, after reading this old thread: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3474540 and many others in different forums I wanted to share my experience with two D7100 bodies.

I’m returning the second D7100 body for a full refund after having severe back-focus and front-focus issues. 30% to 40% of shots were clearly out of focus, even in AF-S, central point AF, good light and shutter speeds higher than 1/500. All of this in the field and with static, flat, big and high contrast targets.

All this happened with four lenses:

AF-S Nikkor 18-135mm 1:3.5-56G ED

AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G

AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-56GII ED

AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8

Lenses that work just fine with a D40, D90 and D300s. I also tested the first three with a D5200 without problems.

Fortunately, after two thousandth of test shots with each body, the dealer agreed to a full refund.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience.
