Part of me wants to just drive around all this "Why did Sony end Nex" quagmire. But I also recognize less than a year ago I invested in two NEX camera bodies, various E lenses including a Zeiss24. So one might say I'm considerably invested in NEX and watching its stock plummet. This wouldn't be a great feeling, except that it still is an extraordinary system. I've concluded that for the medium term, it suits me well. So I'm happy except for how Sony handled shutting down/renaming it's 2 year old NEX system. I understand camera models and lines will advance and change. But it's the "how" that bothers not only me but so many who respond on this and its previous thread, as well as those who suffer in silence. I wrote this post mainly for those silent NEX owners. And that's why I just didn't IGNORE!!!

EinsteinsGhost:  Did you buy a NEX for the name? I did not. Would I buy any of its successors? I would be cray not to, if it meets the necessary requirements (and that does not care about what name or number is imprinted on the top plate).

1prime:  EG, As I said above, the issue for me is process, not product. To specifically respond to your question, no, the NEX name was superfluous to the actual camera, which I said is worth keeping. Sony continues to make great products. On that, all or almost all of us agree. Where many of us, if not most, stand is in our attempt to encourage Sony to improve its process.  That is by promptly supporting existing and even older gear with cogent firmware, etc; proofreading before issuing supporting cds; and ascertaining and developing its product line in a cohesive and logical fashion. Many manufacturers have closed their doors after years of poor product servicing & backup. Successful product lines pride themselves on excellent servicing. It's not a surprise to consumers why some companies build on their successes, and some don't. EG, I and I assume most here want Sony to grow and prosper. This is why a quip to shut this thread off is not productive, and constructive criticism is.
