The various voigtlanders, R-D1, the Zeiss Ikon, and a bunch of other film 60s/70s RF's all function just like a Leica rangefinder. It's not a split screen like a katz eye or whatknot. Leica has their other reasons to charge more, but I don't think the viewfinder is one of them. It may increase the costs over a mirrorless or an evf, but if Epson could do a small run of a digital camera with a rangefinder for less $2.5k, so can Leica. I wouldn't even be against voigtlander producing it with the red dot glued on.
