x100s low light and flash?
Jan 14, 2014

Need some advice.....

I regularly take photos at dinner parties, bars, parties etc where light levels are low.  Currently I open up to f2, iso3200 and set shutter speed as fast as possible for that situation, to stop movement blur.  However,  I open don't want to shoot at f2 as the depth of field is limiting, also the shutter speed required is often too slow and blur is created.

So Im guessing I should use flash but when I have done so its very obvious flash has been used, dark grounds are dark, faces are white etc.  How can I use a smaller aperture (say 5.6) and still get the camera to work right in low light BUT without losing the ambient light?  I like the orange light of a bar etc are I don't really want to loose this.

Should I buy an external flash which can bounce? Or Im I just using the camera incorrectly?
