Your thoughts on eye-controlled focus?

Canon seems to have abandoned eye-controlled focus in their digital cameras; I like the feature and am wondering whether we'll ever have it again.

Was it not successful? Too problematic? Too expensive?

I have an Elan 7NE and wear glasses. The eye-control works fine in bright light, but not in dim light. With my glasses off, it works in any light (unfortunately the diopter correction isn't great enough for me to use the 7NE without glasses).

Do you think this would be a worthy feature today?
