When will the mirror die?

Lets do a little thought experiment here. At what point in time do we think the market leaders in consumer DSLR sales will remove the mirror and go mirrorless? Assuming the markets dont crash, assuming the world doesn't explode, assuming we don't run out of resources. When? 10 years? 50 years? 500? If technology is to progress in the same curve as it has, surely we will have the processing power to come up with something better than high speed moving parts that have wear and tear.

Look at the new trains we have now, they have no moving parts, they hover on magnetic charges and glide smooth as silk at hundreds of miles an hour. So lets not kid ourselves, it may take hundreds of years, but mirrors will eventually be removed. So the question is, when? Im more interested in hearing from the diehard mirror aficionados. What would it take in terms of performance for you to jump ship? What timeframe do you see this happening in?

As i have said in other posts, i see it as a matter of only two issues for DSLR users. AF and VF. When predictive tracking on sensor can match todays DSLR, and when the EVF has resolution and response time that cannot be distinguished from a mirror, then there's no reason not to adopt mirrorless. A little discussion never hurt anybody. What will it take for you to jump ship? When do you all think this will happen?

Feel free to use your imagination, feel free to predict whatever you want. This is after all the internet, and we will all be dirt in the ground eventually. May as well have a little fun while we are here.
