16mm+UW-adapter or 10-18mm?

I am thinking about maybe buying a UWA-lens, and would like the community's opinion of the two aforementioned lenses.

I've read: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3489344?page=1

From searching the forum, there's a lot of discussions on it, but quite few comparisons which actually show the difference (especially with the same scene). Does anyone happen to have such comparisons or know of a thread where I can find them?

I know the above are two different price ranges, and that is exactly why I am asking, is it worth double, or triple, the cost for the 10-18?

Atm, I can get the 16 for about 100£ and the UWAA for about 90£, so for a little under 200£ I can get a 12mm combo. How sharp is this combo? I've seen many pictures from Mel which looked great.

My own 16-50 isnt terribly sharp and while I think I've managed to take a few good shots with it, they wont stand up to printing big which is my intention (dont ask me how big, I havnt decided yet). Will the 16+UWAA be sharp enough?

From the 10-18 lens Ive seen some spectacular results, from Richard NO and many others. The discussion in http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3604266#forum-post-52879796 and many threads and reviews praise this lens.

It's a lot more expensive though! It would cost me about 450-500£ used, or 720£ new. Is it worth it? I suspect I would be very pleased with it, but since being new to photography I always stagger a bit when I see prices on lenses and accessories!

These are the kind of shots I'd like to take (the shots below are from my kit lens)  as well as city scenes (travelling to venice later this year):

I realise this turned into a long post, but I am very grateful for any input from this great community!

Cheers,

CML
