If you can script things... I'm using a TV stick that runs Linux and gphoto2. $45 at most.

The best part of this tool is that you don´t need to learn BASIC,

I do not understand what you are trying to say. "The best part of the thing is that you do not need to learn something" obviously do not apply to those who already know or want to learn.

Also, some people like to do things themselves.

gphoto2 supports more than 1700 cameras, not just Canon and Nikon.

It runs on RaspberryPi, various pcduino boards, and of course those have reach community support

All of those can be programmed without an external computer. One of the tasks mine is performing is evaluating vibration when on a tripod and suggesting the lowest shutter speed depending on the resolution.

You just describe the behaviour you want

But only from a pre-defined set. Say, it won't control my filter wheel.

Hi, I totally agree with you. Totally. It's only that I was referring to a former quote that said "if you can script",  so I meant that you don't need to learn to script to use that scripting tool, as not everybody can script.

For sure you are right, the more you know, the better.
