What is a good portrait lens for my 7D?
Jan 7, 2014

I have been a hobbiest for years, and have recently been shooting family photos for friends. I currently have a 7D sporting it's kit lens, 28-135 US, which gets me in a good range. I'd like to invest in som good glass. I also have a nifty fifty (1.8, but may look at upgrading as well) and a Tamron 70-200 2.8.

I have been caught in a few circumstances where limited space and limited lighting is a concern. Would you consider an Ultra wide angle zoom like the Canon 16-35 2.8L? I would love a 2.8 lens to help with low indoor lighting. I'm not a huge fan of my speed light indoors yet. I have looked at the 24-105 and the 24-70 as well. Shooting on a crop sensor, i'm afraid these won't get me wide enough.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
