Do you get off on being offensive?

I thought you could do all the color work on a computer, and then print from the stick when all the color adjustments are done.

I thought so because I haven't had to print any photos in the period when the pro-100, or the previous X models for that matter, have existed.

Operating systems, software, and workflows change all the time. If I haven't had to print anything, I haven't had to print anything.

Does owning a printer come with a necessary amount of unwarranted self-importance?

OK folks lets try to calm down a bit here.

I want a printer that can print photos from a computer where the color profiles have been calibrated to that particular printer.

That can only be done through the editing software through the driver to the printer.

I don't want a printer that is unable to color profile or print using any other software than the one provided by the manufacturer.

None of the printer force you to use specific softwares. You can use any photo editor that allows you to color manage. Most do.

I thought printing from the USB would be possible, if the images are calibrated to the color profile of the printer. I did not know it was not possible.

You really can not do that. Though you can edit the image so it is looking fabulous on your screen, the instruction that the printer needs to know in order to know how the limited number or ink colors are to be mixes in order to mad the hues and shades as accurately as possible is handles by the ICC profile. That can only be done through the software you are using to do your editing.

Putting the file on a ISB stick so you can then print it through your unconnected printer will not have the VERY important color mapping instructions the ICC contains. So the printer it self would change you image to what IT thinks it should look like. You would not be happy with that.

I get it.

The printer though it might be wireless will require you to have a specific driver for it installed on you computer. That is imperative if you really want to faithfully reproduce what is on your monitor. Remember that once you copy that edited file to a memory card or USB stick, you no longer have th option to print through the ICC profile for your paper which is the most accurate way to properly mad you colors.

Imagine if I told you to paint an area mid yellow! Your next question to me would be, what the hell are you talking about Joe? There are zillions of shades and hues of yellow.

The ICC knows exactly how to take those RGB color values and tell the printer how to mix the inks to produce them as accurately as possible. Printing directly into the printer would be the same as you just telling it print something "Mid Pink"

Listen, if you want to talk about this on the phone I would be more than glad to call you and we can talk till we are both sick of each other LOL but that way we can learn from each other at a minimum.

So if you would like that just PM me. I baby sit my little 21 grandson during the day but we can certainly talk while he watches the TV.

Joe
