canon 6D auto-focus only in live-view (not with viewfinder) mode after fall
Jan 4, 2014

To my great misfortune, while taking pictures of the northern lights in Iceland, my Canon 6D with 24-105 kit lens took a fall.

No clear visible damage on the outside or on the inside, but the camera wont auto-focus anymore in viewfinder mode. It does however autofocus in live-view mode and in video mode. I went to a photo-store yesterday and they put on a different lens, and it still wouldn't focus. So the problem is in the body or the software. I hear the motor of the lens working, while it's trying to adjust.

What could be the problem?
Any ideas what I can do myself?
Is there a way to reinstall the software or reset the camera? After the fall, it said on the screen that an error occurred during recording. But after turning off/on, the error message disappeared.
Thanks  -Flex
