D7100 crop - what is it?

To correct the D7100's numbers for the crop use log2(sqrt(15.36/24)) = -.32 EV (1.92 dB). But remember, this "2x crop" has one more stop of DOF than DX. So, on my 300 f2.8 VR I might shoot f3.5 instead of f5 and at one stop lower ISO.

So. let's set up the scenario. On the D7000 I shoot a 200-400 f4 at 375mm f5 at 1/1250 ISO 200.  On the D7100 cropped I shoot a 300 f2.8 at f3.5 at 1/1250 ISO 100. Per dxomark:

D7000 SNR 39.2 dB DR 12.91 EV

D71000 SNR 39.2 dB DR 13.4 EV

So, in theory at least, the cropped D7100 shot can have the same resolution and SNR and a half stop advantage in DR over the D7000.
