Pretty much agree with what you are saying here.  One thing not to forget about the A mount is that there are still a bunch of pretty decent and affordable lenses from the Minolta days available at fairly reasonable prices.  I recognize they are older lenses, but so are a bunch of those Canon and Nikon lenses you refer to.  Also, in the case of Nikon, except for the upper level models the older screw drive Nikon lenses lose their autofocus function, so I'm not certain Nikon has that many more affordable autofocus lenses for a lot of it's users than Sony--and all the A mount lenses are stabilized on the A mount cameras.
