Is your gear too heavy?

Many complaints. Some say that they are switching to mirrorless because DSLR is too heavy.

Here are some practical suggestions. Please add your suggestions too!

Don't bring the kitchen sink. Choose a few lenses and use them.

Choose the right pack. I use a backpack for a lot of stuff. A messenger bag for just a DSLR and three lenses. With the D5200 (similar weight to OMD-EM1) and three primes, I can walk around all day with the gear.

Feels uncomfortable? Re-distribute the gear in the pack. Adjust the straps for the right height and balance.

Choose the right strap. Nothing is worse than an albatross round your neck. Use a supportive neck strap. I use the Lowepro Voyager C with the quick release.

For a heavy camera and lens, a sling strap is best. I use the Carry Speed FS Pro for the D800/D3 and pro lens. Feels light. It has a double strap for a telephoto lens like the 70-200 or 300 2.8.

Comfort is a combination of the right decisions and better bags/strap/slings. Anyone else like to add a suggestion or tip? What do you use, or won't use again?
