Be aware of relative crop to DX and to FX

The "1.3" crop on the D7100 is just under a 1.3 factor of DX, but about a doubling (2x) of FX.  It's the same basic proportions as the crop feature on the now long-discontinued D2X, only on that camera Nikon calls it a 2x crop because they're referring to it to compare with FX, as the D2X was marketed to encourage pros to switch from 35mm film, while the D7100 is marketed to encourage people to upgrade from cheaper APS format crop sensor bodies.
